Late is an isolated and uninhabited island located about 55 km WSW of the island of Vava’u, in the Kingdom of Tonga. The biological integrity of Late is threatened by invasive Pacific rats that were historically introduced to the island. This report assesses the feasibility of restoring Late through the removal of invasive rats, and describes options, recommendations, and challenges to realizing a successful project.

This Report provides general data and analyses of data from the most recent Census of the Kingdom of Tonga at midnight 30 November 1996. The data and information contained in this Report will help decision makers in Tonga understand the current socioeconomic conditions in the Kingdom of Tonga.

This presents the Demographic Analysis or D-Series together with population projections until the year 2026.

This report contains two parts: Part1 gives the Administrative Report and Part II gives the Statistical Tables. The administrative part concentrates on general information about households and highlights the main findings of the Census. Part 2 gives the Statistical Tables.

This bulletin contains information and an analysis of the M-Series or Internal Migration. Internal Migration refers to the movement of the Tongan Population within Tonga. A comparison is made of the place of birth, place of usual residence and place of enumeration, in order to determine movers and non-movers in the Tongan population.

The substantive information of this report is presented in three parts. Part 1 provides the background information on Census 2006 of Tonga. Part 2 presents the statistical tables (General Tables, Household Tables and Population Projection Tables) itemizing the data provided in the Analytical report. Part 3 contains the Appendices which include; the Glossary, Census forms, Instruction Manual for Enumerators, ISCO-88 and ISIC Revision 4_ 2004, and the Organizational Structure of the Census bodies.

The report contains an analysis of Tonga’s recent population growth and dynamics, in particular the level, trends and patterns of fertility, mortality, and migration. The likely impacts of some of these dynamics on wider cross-cutting issues, such as the environment, health, education and economic activity, are discussed.

This reportis the 7th population census report of the kingdom since 1956, and the 5th census conducted by the Statistics Department. It provides administrative information and basic statistical tabulation of the 2011 Population and Housing Census of Tonga. The census date was midnight, the 30th of November 2011. Information incorporated in this report will facilitate the decision makers in Tonga with respect to the current and future socio-economic conditions in the Kingdom.

The report contains an analysis of Tonga’s population growth and dynamics, in particular the level, trends and patterns of fertility, mortality, and migration and their impact on the environment and implications for health, education and economic activity. The report presents a set of population projections to provide planners and policy-makers with scenarios of the size and structure of Tonga’s future population to aid planning for the differing needs of the young, working age and elderly.

Given that the next General Election is set to occur in November 2014, the Statistics Department decided to honour the request of the Electoral Boundary Commission in the interests of the Kingdom as a whole. The Department also decided to continue to conduct all future censuses on a 5 yearly basis.
